Cash for Clunkers….
Cash for clunkers appears to have had an interesting economic stimulus impact, as more people appear to be hitting the road for the holiday weekend in their new cash-for-clunker vehicles. This increase in traffic and travel will contribute to increased spending in gasoline, hotels, restaurants, and the amusement industry.
Is the stimulus package working? Has it been a boost for the American car industry? What about the impact of the car dealerships who were forced to close and lay off their employees? Will we now see this mitigated by both the increased purchase of cars and the increase in travel?
Tell us what you think in the comment box below:

Been trying to figure a way to play my mp3 player through my radio in my Mercedes. I have one of those converter thingies. But, the sound is lousy. The car has a great Bose sound system, but the CD player, which is in the trunk, doesn’t work. Bummer.

Looks like Cash for Clunckers WAS a clunker. Not only are auto sales down 30+% the month following the clunker buy-out, but now it is clear the American taxpayer was really taken for a ride… a ride in the Obama Clunker Car Company.

Mustang Bevy sounds good to me! Road trip, Thelma and Louise!
Went for a ride in the Cobra yesterday. People think a couple of white headed people in a Cobra are soooooo cute. They take pictures with their camera phones. They honk their horns and wave and smile. I just know they’re saying, “Look at that OLDER couple in that Cobra!” That’s OK. They can eat their hearts out!

saw a sweet pony car yesterday just sitting on the lot saying “do ya think I’m sexy baby, well, do ya?” oooo, want it in the worst way–better than a frozen HoHo.

About that red sports car–seems like right when you are ready to buy one, you end up buying a darn car for your kids, and your still driving around the car you’ve had for the last 6 years!

Cavalier…hey, is that as in Chevy Cavalier?
Looked at the Daimler…ugly little British car. Now he wants to go look at an English Taxi Cab.
I’ve been in an English Taxi Cab…in London. Been there, done that, got the tee-shirt.
Oh well, keeps him out of the pubs.

Though I managed to escape the curse of the mini-van (is there anything more Un-cool?) I couldn’t get rid of my 4-door fast enough when the time came! I’ve been in a coupe ever since, and just love ‘em. Okay, I know mini-vans made a lot of sense, especially with multiple kiddos, but I really just like driving something a little sportier now. I don’t think there’s a gene that flips on and makes you want to recapture your youth…I think you simply have the time, the energy, and the money to have a little more fun. So crank open the sunroof, throw out your practicality, and buy the red convertible!

So, anybody ready to go out and buy a $40,000 Chevy Volt?
Anybody have any idea why nobody seems to know what a replacement battery would cost?
Hold on to your Camaros. They’re gonna be worth a fortune.

May hubby is a car hobbyist.
We have owned British Leyland cars of various kinds, Porsches of various kinds and now he has a Shelby Cobra replica…a nice one that he found in Pennsylvania.
The Cobra was always his dream car. And, silly me, I thought once he got the Cobra he’d be satisfied.
But, noooooooooooooooo.
A few weeks ago he was talking about having a car shipped here from New Zealand. NEW ZEALAND!
Tomorrow he’s going to look at something called a Daimler. I don’t even know what that is.
What I do know is that there will be at least three cars in the garage this winter…and I’ll be scraping the snow off my car sitting in the driveway.
Oh well…I guess it keeps him off the streets and out of the bars.
Well…at least out of the bars.
